Our Team

The team at BlueHound is made up of dedicated, intuitive and compassionate sitters who understand pets, their humans, and the bonds they share.

Let’s meet them!

Barbara (owner)

I have always been an animal lover, and I have always enjoyed helping others.  This combination of loves sparked the creation of BlueHound Pet Care. Transitioning from a twenty-five year career as a hairstylist and previously a social coordinator in the field of geriatrics, it is natural that I enjoy helping others feel beautiful, special and cared for.  Horses are a passion of mine.  I have been riding and caring for horses for over 45 years.  Having owned and managed my own small horse farm for nearly 25 years, I understand the challenge of finding quality help with my horses and dogs.  Seeing that need in the area where I live gave me the opportunity to extend pet care to include equine small farm care.  Now, others with equine or other small farms can enjoy time away without the worry.  Over the years, I have loved many of my own dogs, mostly Beagles or mixed Beagles (well, perhaps ALL!!) so it comes as no surprise that I volunteer for the local beagle rescue, Triangle Beagle Rescue of NC.  In fact, BlueHound was named in memory of my heart dog Gordon, a Blue Beagle.  Other passions of mine are photography, reading, yoga and anything outdoors.

Frankie

Frankie is the definition of animal lover!  She began riding at the age of seven when she got her first pony.   After spending fifteen years in South Carolina on her small farm with her two horses, two mini donkeys, her Australian Shepherd, Border Collie cross Kenna,  and numerous cats, she decided it was time to come back to North Carolina in 2011 to be closer to family.  In South Carolina, Frankie and Kenna spent ten years providing therapy visits to a boys shelter and nursing homes as part of a pet ministry.   She loves all animals (except for flogging roosters!) and gives them all special attention as if they were her own.  Frankie believes “it is a privilege to be trusted” to care for your pets.  When she isn’t loving on your pets, she can be found at work as a bookkeeper, tossing balls or Frisbees to her rescue Aussie mix Kallie, loving on her cats or practicing yoga.

Jane

Jane always has had a special connection with animals, especially dogs. She loves marveling at their different personalities and quirky traits. Originally from Michigan, Jane and her husband, Jeff moved to North Carolina 15 years ago and lived in Hendersonville before coming to the Durham area. She and Jeff raised two Golden Retrievers, Sadie Mae and Hannah Rose, from pups. After losing both at age 14, they decided to love and care for dogs through adoption. They now have two goldens…Ari and Bae. Jane is also a Durham County Master Gardener, which helps her grow a wide variety of plants for her dogs to lay on. Jane has experience with dogs of all ages, loves cats and can care for koi ponds as well. Now that Jane is semi retired, her husband is thrilled knowing that she can care for all of your precious pets instead of bringing more of them home!
